About Fab Lab Manchester
Fab Lab Manchester runs to "inspire people and entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into new products and prototypes by giving them access to a range of advanced digital manufacturing technology.".
Shrimping It (Makers of Morecambe) are a "maker community, originators of Shrimp budget Arduino Uno substitute.".
Manchester Linux User Group (ManLUG) is one of the UK's oldest LUGs and have an active group of people giving support and sharing knowledge.
About Manchester Free Software
Manchester Free Software (MFS) aims to promote the Free Software philosophy, centred in Manchester. We provide a friendly and accessible community to learn about and discuss Free Software and other topics that involve users' control of their computing.
Hardware Freedom Day is an annual world wide celebration of Free Hardware with the aim of promoting Hardware Freedom to everyone. This year the event lands on Saturday, 15th March. You can see the teams around the world that will be participating on the HFD 2014 Events Map. This includes Manchester, UK!
The event will be a chance to discuss, show and see Free Hardware. The following topics are for discussion (but other Hardware Freedom topics are welcome):
The anti-Free Hardware Restricted Boot (aka Secure Boot)
Novena is being done by a team including Andrew “bunnie” Huang of Hacking the Xbox fame.
There are the following scheduled items:
- Talk on the whole subject of Free Hardware.
- Presented by Michael Dorrington, Manchester Free Software.
- Talk/demo that will start with orientation on Arduino, then move onto the Shrimp and then onto people's Shrimp remixes.
- Presented by Cefn Hoile, Shrimping It.
- Tour of Fab Lab Manchester.
- Date: Saturday, 15th March 2014 (3rd Saturday in March)

The New Islington Metrolink Station is nearby.
ManLUG and Manchester Free Software are working together on this event but would like to work with more groups and individuals wanting to help out. So if you or your group want to help out then please send an email to email@example.com .
If you have some Free Hardware and would like to demo it to people then please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and help out on the day. Alternatively, just turn up on the day with it.
